1988:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span>Konkhra<\/span>, who like to label themselves as \u201cExtreme Metal\u201d, were founded in Copenhagen\/Denmark as <\/span>Vicious Circle<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

1990:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span>The band got around to recording their debut demo tape with a second release ‘Malgrowth’ the following year. <\/span>Konkhra\u00a0<\/span>signed to local label Progress Records and issued the ‘Stranded’ EP. This official debut, limited to only 3,000 copies, featured sleeve artwork by noted Chicago tattoo artist Guy Aitchison. The release was capitalised on by support slots to acts such as <\/span>Fear Factory\u00a0<\/span>and <\/span>Brutal Truth.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

1993:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span>With the release of their first full length album ‘Sexual Affective Disorder’ <\/span>Konkhra<\/span> put in an American tour supported by label mates <\/span>Meatlocker<\/span> and a January 1994 European trek with <\/span>Suffocation<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

1994:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span>The third album, \u2018Spit Or Swallow\u2018, was produced by <\/span>Dismember\u00a0<\/span>drummer Fred Estby and Tomas Skogsberg, at the famed Sunlight Studio in Stockholm. This album had pushed <\/span>Konkhra\u00a0<\/span>to the status of being Progress Records best selling act.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

1995:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span>In support of\u00a0 the ‘Spit or Swallow’ album (1994) the band toured Europe on a bill alongside <\/span>Deicide\u00a0<\/span>and <\/span>Suffocation<\/span>. Scandinavian dates alongside <\/span>Immolation\u00a0<\/span>and <\/span>Cannibal Corpse\u00a0<\/span>had <\/span>Konkhra\u00a0<\/span>conclude the touring duties for ‘Spit Or Swallow’.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

1997:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span>Konkhra\u00a0<\/span>started work on a new album<\/span> \u2018<\/span><\/span>Weed Out The Weak<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a>\u2018 <\/span><\/span>as they were brought up to strength with the addition of <\/span>ex-Testament, Obituary<\/span> and <\/span>Disincarnate <\/span>guitarist James Murphy.
<\/span>
Incidentally, <\/span>Konkhra’s <\/span>‘Homegrowth’ video featured a cover of <\/span>Terrorizer<\/span>‘s ‘The Dead Shall Rise’ and guest contributions from members of <\/span>Napalm Death<\/span>.
<\/span>
The album went on to be released by Metal Blade for the US market, extensive touring followed. The album was followed by a 7 week trek European your with <\/span>Napalm Death<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

2001:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span><\/span>Konkhra\u00a0<\/span>did the opening acts for <\/span>King\u00a0Diamond’s<\/span> two weeks European Tour.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

2003:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span>Konkhra\u00a0<\/span>signed to the Italian Code666 label for the album \u2018Reality Check’ , recorded at guitarist\/vocalist Anders Lundemark’s Starstruck Studio.
<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

A rash of European dates throughout late October and throughout November saw <\/span>Konkhra\u00a0<\/span>headlining over fellow Danes <\/span>Illnath\u00a0<\/span>and <\/span>Corpus\u00a0Mortale\u00a0<\/span>with Greek act <\/span>Homo\u00a0Iratus\u00a0<\/span>also in tow.

The band would also put in their debut Israeli gig, appearing at the \u2018Metalist\u00a0Festival’.
<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Another first for the band came in January of 2004 with three South African gigs in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town.<\/span><\/h2>\n

2007:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span>The band announced fresh album recordings branded \u2018Religion Is a\u00a0Whore’. The theme of this set was described by the band \u201cas a response to the \u2018cartoon crisis,\u2019 which was triggered by a Danish cartoonist who made a drawing of Muhammed with a bomb in his turban.\u201d However, the sessions would be curtailed and eventually completely re-recorded.

Digital mishaps conquered, the album was released in 2009 through the bands own label imprint Chopshop internationally distributed by Target.

Festival appearances and touring followed.<\/span><\/h2>\n

2014:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span>The band joined <\/span>Behemoth\u00a0<\/span>in South Africa for two shows and a good week of sun and sightseeing.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

2015:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span><\/span>Volbeat\u00a0<\/span>announced a sold out show (the only show in Denmark. 37.000 tickets sold!) with Konkhra and Accept\u00a0as support acts.
<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

The same year <\/span>Konkhra\u00a0<\/span>opened Denmark\u2019s biggest metal festival ‘Copenhell’.
<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

In the summer of 2015 the Christian organization ‘Shield of the Sun’ and it\u2019s minister Michael Hur accused the members of <\/span>Konkhra\u00a0<\/span>of stealing $500.000 from them and spending the money \u2018…on whores, drugs, speakers and studio time. Again let it be said that Religion is a Whore !!!<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

2016:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span>Konkhra<\/span> signed up with Hammerheart Records and a reissue of <\/span>\u2018<\/span><\/span>Weed out the Weak<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a>‘<\/span><\/span> saw the day light on both vinyl and CD.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

2019:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span>This year the same legendary label released <\/span>Konkhra’s<\/span> newest full length and self produced album <\/span>\u2018<\/span><\/span>Alpha and the Omega<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a>‘<\/span><\/span> in 2019. The album was recorded at Anders Lundemark’s own Starstruck Studio and mixed by mighty Tue Madsen (The Haunted, Sick of it All, Meshuggah etc.). The music on the album speaks for itself. Extreme but balanced within the boundaries of their patented groove and grinding metal roots. Apropos roots the lineup on the album is the old crew: Johnny Nielsen (drums), Kim \u2018Hakim\u2019 Mathiesen (guitar), Martin Rolighed\u00a0Patterson (bass) and of course\u00a0Anders Lundemark(vocals and guitar). 2020:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span>As a reaction on<\/span> \u2018<\/span><\/span>Alpha and the Omega<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a>‘<\/span><\/span> <\/span>Konkhra\u00a0<\/span>is not only headlining the ‘Alpha Tour’ in Denmark but also supporting <\/span>Batushka by Krzysztof Drabikowski\u00a0<\/span>on the \u2018Panihida European Tour’ along with <\/span>Malevolent\u00a0Creation<\/span>.

2021:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span>Hammerheart Records makes a follow-up on the back catalog by re-issuing the debut album <\/span>‘<\/span><\/span>Sexual Affective Disorder<\/u><\/span><\/span><\/a>‘<\/span><\/span> from 1993. The LP comes with download card and\u00a0CD comes as a deluxe edition with slipcase including the demo recordings ‘The Vicious Circle’ and ‘Malgrowth’. The cover artwork was painted by Danish artist Michael Kvium.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

2024:<\/u><\/span>
<\/span><\/span>Konkhra\u2019s new album, \u201cSad Plight of Lucifer\u201d, delivers their classic Scandinavian Death Metal sound with fresh intensity. Mixed by Tue Madsen, the album marks the band\u2019s return to their roots, offering a powerful continuation of their legacy.<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

\u201cSad Plight of Lucifer\u201d is set for a release on Hammerheart Records 29 november and will be available as digipack CD, LP (in various colors) and digital!<\/span><\/h2>\n
